As a Doctor of Physical Therapy, Shelly offers one on one physical therapy sessions to address a wide variety of orthopedic conditions. She is certified in IASTM (Instrument Assisted Soft Tissue Massage) and is skilled in several manual therapy techniques. During your initial evaluation, she will spend a significant amount of time assessing your entire musculoskeletal and connective tissue systems in order to address your needs from a whole body and holistic point of view. She respects that movement and dysfunction is never an isolated event; but rather is an interdependent series of events that involves multiple muscles and joints. Her ultimate goal is to facilitate your full return to function and fitness by combining conventional physical therapy techniques with functional movement training and restoration. This provides clients with optimum levels of strength, neuromuscular efficiency, endurance, balance, core stability and flexibility.
Through her experience as a Physical Therapist, Shelly often treats individuals after an acute injury or as a result of years of chronic pain and movement dysfunction. She has worked with individuals of all ages and conditions. She has identified that some of the major limitations to her patient’s progress has been:
-Limited frequency and/or duration of treatments
–Reactive care, rather than proactive prevention
-Noncompliance with a home exercise program following a series of treatments
Most clients leave physical therapy feeling better than when they walked in; but the trick is to maintain that changed state in order to achieve long term progress and prevent recurrence. This requires you to zoom out and look at all factors in your life that are modifiable and may be hindering your progress. Shelly will work with you to look at your lifestyle from a different vantage point, and implement strategies that will empower you to control what you can control in order to achieve optimal health and wellness.
Shelly offers physical therapy services at a frequency that will meet both your schedule and your physical needs, and is determined at the time of your initial consultation. One-on-one in home consultations and follow up visits are available either in person or via telephone or video conference.
Shelly does not contract with insurance companies for reimbursement. Our current health care system often limits the number of visits or qualification for participation in physical therapy. Through a Fee-for-Service system, Shelly is able to deliver you comprehensive care that meets your specific individual needs without being dictated by your health care coverage. You are welcome to submit all claims to your insurance provider independently for reimbursement if you choose.
